This fully-supported tour highlights the tremendous variety of scenery and terrain on offer for road cycling in Steamboat and Routt County. Unique amongst mountain towns we have so much more than the typical one-road-in (and out) to venture out and stretch your legs. You can spend significantly longer than a week exploring all of the options available.
Arrive in Steamboat. Check in at your luxury chalet and assemble bikes or collect & fit rental bike. Then head out for a shake-out ride around the local area to get the legs going and check that all equipment is fine tuned for the week ahead.
Let's get into it! With this first major foray you will be immediately immersed in the magnificence of the area starting up at Yampa and after the first climb descending through the Flat Top mountains to Steamboat.
Venture out on a spectacular loop that takes you along the route of the 2013 USA Pro Cycling Challenge over the 3 B*'s and into historic Oak Creek, through the Stagecoach State Park and back to Steamboat.
Day 4 (optional rest day): Dakota Ridge | Catamount | School House | +1560 FT | -1560 ft
This day takes you through the picture postcard landscape of the Yampa Valley enjoying the pristine neighborhood of Dakota Ridge, out past Lake Catamount then back to the historic schoolhouse at Hilton Gulch before cruising back to Steamboat. For those still looking to rack up the miles there are options to circle Emerald Mountain via Cow Creek.
No visit to Steamboat would be complete with a journey to North Routt. Beginning at the historic Clark Store explore Seedhouse Rd, then venture on up to Steamboat Lake and to the ancient gold mining community of Columbine at the foot of Hahn's Peak before cruising back to Steamboat.
This iconic climb featured in both 2011 and 2013 editions of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge and is a challenge worthy of any hill-climber's bucket list. Starting in the valley floor you will ascend to 9400 ft with the option to go further out to the East summit which sits right on the Continental Divide.
100 miles in the saddle in the Rocky Mountains creates a lasting impression on every rider. By now your lungs and legs should have adapted to the altitude and you are ready for the big challenge of the week. Our fully supported rides will get you home with a smile on your face and a great sense of accomplishment with a spectacular ride in the bag.
